Who in your opinion is the BEST NFL player to play. They have to be playing now, regardless if it's in the downswing of their careers. |

Aaron Rodgers is the best offensive player imo. Not sure about defense, I'd have to say J.J. Watt though I guess, maybe Ray Lewis even though he's retired now. |

I think the best overall player is Adrian Peterson. After what we went through last year and the year he had this year was incredible. |

I don't think you can have a best player for Football ya know? The whole team needs to work together. That said, even Tom Brady doesn't have to qualify as the best offensive player on his team, because what good is he if Wes Welker or Aaron Hernandez don't get open? What good is Tom Brady if his O-Line doesn't block for him? There's definitely no set best offensive player for football. Defense is a whole different story. I think the pass rush is the most important part. Even the most mediocre of QB's have shown they can have success when you have time to throw. Alex Smith is a good example of that. At the same time, elite QB's like Tom Brady and Peyton Manning are absolutely deadly given time in the pocket. Force them out of the pocket, and it's not so pretty. That said, I will give it to JJ Watt as the best defensive player. The man is just a sack animal. He does what he does at best at his position. |

Yeah football doesn't really have a best player. One player can't carry a game for the team, not that kind of sport. I think a best player is one that makes your team mates play at the best of their game. |

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Tom Brady offensively, with Calvin Johnson as the non-quarterback and AP is definitely in the top 5. Defensively, Revis and Watt are the megastuds. But as others have pointed out, the best player in football varies by year. The most important this year? MVPeterson. Going by that, you could argue AP though. |

The most important player this year is Ray Lewis to me. Saying a few words about retiring completely rejuvenated the Ravens. |

Ray Lewis is definitely up there. He was also excellent in the playoffs if I remember correctly, coming off of a triceps injury that was thought to be season ending. He has been immortalized forever as one of, if not the best linebacker in NFL history because of what he accomplished and how many he motivated. The Baltimore Ravens have never been the Baltimore Ravens before Ray Lewis, technically, so I'm interested to see the future. That may be more telling on how important Ray Lewis is. One player can mean a lot. Just ask the 2011 Indianapolis Colts. Though, obviously, Peyton Manning has a lot more influence over the game at this point in their respective careers than Lewis, but, you get my point.

Adrian Peterson is the best player in the NFL today. The reason I say that is because he came back from a torn ACL injury and almost broke the rushing record with LESS carries. I mean that is pretty tough. |

Peterson carried the ball 31 less times than Dickerson im pretty sure. He averaged 6 yrds per carry with dickerson having 5.6. anyways best player in the nfl is real tough to call. probably go with Rodgers or Brady. next year brees and the saints are gunna be lights out though |

When they talk about NFL teams, they will be like Tom Brady and the Patriots or Eli Manning and the Giants. The Vikings are one of the only teams where I hear a player, other than a QB, to be the feature. Adrian Peterson and the Vikings which is rare. He is a remarkable player. |
